The great fire of Selby Abbey primary school

Today we had a fantastic afternoon to bring our topic 'The Great fire of London' to an end.
The fire brigade came and we set fire to our Tudor houses to show just how fast the fire did spread in 1666.
We even sung 'London's burning' to the firemen.

Our fantastic Tudor houses

For our History topic 'The great fire of London' we have been very busy making our own Tudor houses. Here are some photos to show you our super models.

            Don't they look fantastic?

World Book Day

On Thursday 6th March we celebrated world book day.

We came dressed as our favourite book character. Miss Conning dressed up as a Giraffe and Mrs Franks came as a cat.
Batman Kuba
Princess Emma
Zebra Elsie
Fireman Kacper

Miss Trunchbull
We had lots of fun.

Making Bread and writing instructions

Last week in DT we made some bread. We pretended to be Thomas Ferrier (King Charles baker in 1666) during the great fire of London.

In Literacy we then gave our partners instructions to make a jam sandwich with the bread we made and then we wrote our instructions.

Happy New Year

We have all had a great first week back and we have really enjoyed listening to all of the children's Christmas stories.

In science this half term we will be looking at animals - we have set up our own vets role play area to learn how to care for our pets.
In history we are learning about 'The Great Fire of London' - we are looking forward to having our drama day on Tuesday 14th January to learn about this past event even more.

We are all looking forward to an exciting half term ahead.
